Three National Circus School graduates took top honours, winning gold, silver and bronze medals at the 40th Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris. At this, the world’s major contemporary circus competition, the most talented artists on the planet converge. The annual event is often likened to Olympic Games for the circus with a strong artistic component.

The important role played by the National Circus School in its sector was been confirmed by the awarding of a grant in the amount of $1 million over five years. The funds will go towards promoting the practice of recreational circus arts with young people and advancing the offer of preparatory circus arts training in Quebec. It was through the media that the National Circus School learned that one of its teachers had been arrested on Thursday, May 10, and charged with criminal acts of a sexual nature allegedly perpetrated against a former student. The entire School community is profoundly shocked and upset by this news, and our thoughts are with our former student. Front-line services have been deployed to provide support to students and staff at the School.
The National Circus School greeted with enthusiasm news that the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications has awarded it $1 million over five years. This support will benefit the entire recreational and preparatory circus sector, and contribute to the transfer of expertise in pedagogy, risk management and teacher training.

It was another highly fruitful venture for seven National Circus School graduates, who triumphed at the 39th Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain. Held in Paris, this major international competition, an event often compared to the circus Olympics, each year attracts the most talented circus performers on the planet.
