National Pre-selection Tour

In the fall, Montreal’s École nationale de cirque (National Circus School) embarks on a pre-selection tour in a cross-Canada quest for talented young people between the ages of 9 and 17. This fall, the School will visit several cities from October 22 to November 18!

The pre-selection tour is an opportunity for young people to have their potential evaluated and to meet the School's teachers, while also learning more about the programs and the life of a circus artist.

The following cities will be visited in the Fall 2017 : Montreal, Calgary, Disraeli, Gatineau, Halifax, Hamilton, Ottawa, Sherbrooke, St-Johns, Toronto, Vancouver and Winnipeg.

The shortlisted candidates will be invited to the official Entrance Exam in February or as part of summer camps to complete the admissions process.

Please note that it is not mandatory to participate in the pre-selection tour in order to register for the summer camps. For more information about the summer camps, click here

Participation criteria

  • Be between 9 and 17 years of age
  • Be Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • Be interested in the higher education in circus arts

During the tour the School's teaching staff will hold workshops, with exercises designed to assess the aspiring circus artists' calibre and potential to integrate into the School's programs. In particular, they will be tested for spatial orientation, coordination, flexibility, strength, stage presence (acting ability), movement and musicality (dance). In addition to this opportunity to be evaluated by circus arts professionals, young aspirants will attend a briefing on the School's training programs and learn more about the career of a circus performer. Once pre-selected, candidates may register for the official Entrance Examination in February or for one of the summer camps to complete the admission process.

The 2017 National Pre-selection Tour is now over. Thank you all for your participation! You will be contacted in the coming weeks by December 2017.
