Director of Studies
Marilou has been with the National Circus School since 2002, first as a circus arts instructor and later as coordinator of the preparatory and recreational programs. She then served as Associate Director of the College Program and Continuing Education before being appointed Director of Studies a year ago. She also sits on the boards of Conseil Sport Montréal and FEDEC, the international network for professional circus arts training.
Alongside her career in education, Marilou was a circus artist and performed in La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil. She holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the Université du Québec à Montréal, where she received the 2011 Prix Reconnaissance from the Faculty of Science. From 1993 to 1997, she was a member of Canada’s national artistic gymnastics team. She set a national record by competing in five world championships and earned a place in the international gymnastics code of points with an innovative balance beam element, the Cousineau.
Recognized for her outstanding gymnastics career, Marilou made history in 2013 by becoming the first Quebec gymnast inducted into the Québec Sports Hall of Fame.
