Release: James Tanabe named to the Direction of Studies

Mr. Éric Langlois, Executive Director of National Circus School (NCS), is pleased to announce the appointment of James Tanabe as Director of Studies. He succeeds Daniela Arendasova, who will retire after 33 years of significant contribution to the growth and development of the institution.

Entre-temps: circus arts between earth and sky

On June 24, 26 and 27, the first-year students of our higher education program and the students of our upgrade one-year program presented Entre-temps as part of TOHU's programming. This outdoor show was held on Cirque du Soleil’s terrace and was directed by Émilie Émiroglou (1995 graduate) and Nicolas Germaine.

TRIPTYQUE 2021: THREE CONTEMPORARY CREATIONS WATCHED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD

On May 28 and 29, our second-year students from our Higher Education program presented Triptyque 2021. The three short circus creations of this program were directed by Edgar Zendejas, Michael Watts and Claudel Doucet. This format can be defined as a laboratory, a space for research and creation that is decidedly contemporary.

The students of our Circus and High School program performed their end-of-year presentations: HIC & NUNC (here and now) from May 14 to 16. These two creations weredesigned and directed by Yves St-Pierre.

ECONOMIC RECOVERY PLAN FOR THE CULTURAL SECTOR: $300,000 FOR THE SCHOOL

The National Circus School receives $300,000 in funding as part of the Quebec government's Economic Recovery Plan for the Cultural Sector (Plan de relance économique du milieu culturel). This Plan has enabled 117 arts training organizations to receive $3,059,118 in additional support.

SEVEN GUEST CREATORS TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE OF THE CREATION WEEK

Seven creators will take part in the National Circus School's creation week, to be held from November 2 to 7. The goal of this week is to open students' minds and immerse them in as many different creative universes as possible. By observing several creators at work and discovering their ways of expressing themselves, students will be able to learn new working methods and improve their versatility and creativity as artists.

A new entrpreneurship and innovation lab

The School's research center (CRITAC) today launches an entrepreneurship and innovation lab dedicated to the development of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in the circus, culture and performing arts industries. The three-year pilot project will lead to establishing a permanent support program.
