We are pleased to announce that our Center for Circus Arts Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer has been awarded, on July 1st 2022, a grant of $200,000 per year for a 5 years period. The CRITAC, whose mission is the advancement and transfer of knowledge in the circus arts, will therefore receive funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) until 2027.
Through the values of excellence and innovation for which the National Circus School is known, the CRITAC managed to stand out in the 2022 Mobilization Grants competition. This grant of one million dollars awarded to the CRITAC will be used to develop the future of the performing arts by increasing the capacity for applied research and social innovation to reach the full potential of individuals and communities in Canada.
This grant will also allow the CRITAC to better articulate and share the impact of its actions, and furthermore the scope of its initiatives in the training of our students.
Since its creation in 2013, the NCS Research Centre has enjoyed continuous support from the NSERC through its numerous grants. This allows the CRITAC to aim for worldwide recognition in the circus arts and the human performance sector as well as to accomplish its mission of fostering the evolution and diversification of the practices and teachings in the performing arts.
